A bit of good news tonight for those of you who a decent amount of time at 35,000 feet. Delta has updated its Android application to Version 2.0, just a couple weeks after it dropped for iOS. With it you'll get a brand-new user interface, as well as a bevy of new options, including the ability to purchase flights from your phone.
Missing — still — is any sort of tablet application. That's been annoying enough in the past (never mind that the phone application has worked just fine when sideloaded on tablets), but it's especially disappointing given the awesomeness that Delta brought in its iPad app, particularly when it comes to seeing what's on the ground beneath your flight at any given time.

After a lengthy lockout, the NHL season is finally starting this weekend. If you’re a puck head like I am, you’re going to want to check out the NHL 2013 Live Wallpaper app. Whether you want to show support for your team or just give your devices a little hockey makeover, this app is for you.
The initial download is free. But if you want it to do anything more, you’re going to have to pay for add-ons within the app. We're not really keen on this sort of business model ourselves, but it is what it is. Here are the prices:
The live wallpapers have an optional interactive puck, Winter Classic Mode, arena ticker, game events and sounds. You can also customize the flag style and what kind of arena you would like to see, whether it be a 2013 version or an older version from last year.
So whether or not you root for the Rangers, Penguins, Capitals or Sabres, the app has content to help you show off your fandom.

Although the previous version of the PayPal app was functional, it wasn't going to win any design awards. It was clearly something from a previous era — one where phones had menu buttons to be specific. Luckily the latest version has undergone quite a bit of a makeover, following a few of the latest Android design guidelines for 4.x devices. Gone is the legacy menu button, replaced by an overflow settings button in the top action bar. The app now looks like it follows more of a "holo" UI, with separate tabs at the top of the app, but unfortunately looks can be deceiving and the only way to switch between tabs is to select them directly. It's understandable that each app will tailor the guidelines to their own needs though.
Overall, it's great to see another app developer putting in the time to update and follow the latest guidelines. The apps look and perform better, especially as a higher percentage of users move up to Android 4.0 and above. Hit the Google Play link above to download or update the app on your device.
Engadget reports today that Digg has just revamped its iOS app, which ties in nicely with its recent, and very smart, site redesign. Digg has just been bought by New York?s Betaworks for just $500,000, according to Engadget, so maybe the makeover has something to do with the change. Whatever the reason, both site and app look good. The app now has a similar black-and-white look to the web page, but the improvements are not just cosmetic, as Engadget writes that the updated app has several new, and very useful features. For example, the app now has offline reading, as well as Facebook and Twitter integration, and, most interestingly of all, the new ?Paperboy? feature, which, once you set it up, will recognise when you are at home, and will then ensure that you never leave home with old news. You?ll have to ensure that you connect your Facebook account to a bookmark and share between your iPhone and the homepage for this to happen though.

BGR has an excellent round-up today that pulls together some of the key facts about iOS 6 that have been leaked so far, as well as some of their own predictions, with BGR stating that Apple will for sure be launching the new software at its WWDC next week. Among some of the main predictions by BGR is that the user interface theme will get a makeover, going from blue to silver, bringing it into line with the iPad?s user interface. Another prediction is that Apple will be launching a new Maps app, replacing the current Google-branded app with its own in-house Maps app, complete with jaw-dropping 3D option. Some features that we haven?t heard so much about until now, but which BGR?s Jonathan Geller is expecting, include automatic app updates, an iCloud keychain that syncs with iOS and Mac, and iCloud tabs. Facebook integration is another feature that is expected to be announced for the new iOS 6, which won?t be popular with everyone. Another recent rumour centers around Siri coming to iPad as part of iOS 6, as well as new Siri functions for the iPhone version, maybe even API access for third-party developers, BGR speculates. Already sounding like a pretty massive update, isn?t it?! Well, that?s not even all we can expect, according to BGR, who also mention 1080p AirPlay mirroring, live app icons, inter-app communication, and widgets in notification center. If we even get some of that, this update is going to make a lot of iPad, iPhone and iPod touch users very happy!
