Until now, business owners utilizing Foursquare have been required to manage their locations via the Foursquare website. Now though, Foursquare for Business has hit the Google Play Store, providing the opportunity to manage those locations on the go.
From within, business owners can post photo updates, share updates via Facebook and Twitter, view recent checkins at their locations, learn more about their customers and drive new business by way of Foursquare specials. It's a very specific app with a specific purpose, but it's great news that Foursquare has realized the power of being able to access your business specific information on the go. Further more, it looks to have been extremely well done, so if you're a business owner on Foursquare, hit the Play Store link at the top to grab yourselves a copy.
Bloomberg reports today that Apple?s forthcoming in-house Maps app, which is set to replace the current, Google-created Maps app in iOS 6, will be including Yelp?s ?check-in? feature, which enables you to tell people your location. Bloomberg found out about this new feature after scrutinizing the Apple developer kit that was released to developers at the beginning of June, and which includes screenshots of Yelp check-ins taken from inside Apple Maps. Although neither Yelp nor Apple are commenting on the matter, Aaron Kessler, an analyst at Raymond James & Associates, told Bloomberg,
?Apple is important for Yelp. About 40% of traffic to Yelp is from their mobile app. That number may be higher if you include browser-based mobile.?
To those unfamiliar with Yelp, Bloomberg explains that it is a website where users can review all different types of businesses, as a means of helping local traders and business owners. Bloomberg adds that integration with Apple Maps in iOS 6 could help Yelp to leap ahead of check-in facility rivals such as Foursquare and Facebook.
