Cult of Mac has word today of a way in which all those who are missing Google Maps since they installed iOS 6 can bring back the good old days, with an app called ClassicMap. The app was created by Katsumi Kishikawa, and Cult of Mac says that it?s a ?wrapper? for map data from elsewhere. The Standard mode shows you the regular iOS 6 maps data from the new app, but when you turn up the bottom-right corner and select Classic mode, you?ll be able to view that old familiar iOS 5 Maps layout. Cult of Mac says that it is pretty much the same as the old Maps app, albeit much more basic, without all the bells and whistles such as direction-finding and Street View, or even Points of Interest, but it works fine, although a little slow, they say. ClassicMap features map, satellite and hybrid views in both modes. Sounds good? Well it?s free, so even better!

The Android 3.2.1 update for the HTC EVO View 4G is in the midst of a rollout, bringing Honeycomb and a new "virtual and holographic user interface" to the 7-inch HTC tablet. The official change log reads:
The update is rolling out itself, but if you'd like to force a check, On the Home screen, tap Menu and then tap Settings; scroll up and tap System updates; tap HTC software update. On the Software updates screen, tap Check now and your View will check for updates.
We know a lot of you have been waiting for this update, and the manual update location is available in more than a few places (heck, just grab it right here), but if you've rooted your View 4G don't even think about it. Waiting for a bootlooping View 4G's battery to die is no fun — trust me, we know this first hand. This update is not only as of yet unrootable, but it also changes things so that Revolutionary ceases to work by replacing the hboot files. Developers will get it sorted soon enough.
Thanks everyone who sent this in, and SprintGirl for bootlooping her EVO View!

Apollo?Browser w/FB chat is a new free tabbed iPad browser app from Voyager Technology that claims to be the ?first and only? app to let the user browse the web and Facebook chat at the same time, so you won?t have to miss any of that vital chat when you?re browsing! The Facebook chat box is situated in the bottom right corner of the browser, just as on your computer browser, and all you have to do is log in to your Facebook account to start chatting and browsing. If you want to have more than one chat ongoing at the same time, you can open up new chat tabs and swipe to switch between them.
It?s actually quite a nice little browser even if you?re not interested in the integrated Facebook chat element, which is presumably why it was recently featured as New and Noteworthy in the App Store. It keeps it very simple, uncluttered and clean, with just four buttons on the top toolbar, and tabs that you switch between by swiping, and the default colour is that nice Facebook blue.
For some reason you have to be 17+ to download the browser. I can?t actually see why that might be so, but just to point that out.
